Quiz Night news
This week’s quiz night was well attended with four local teams taking part.
The quiz master tickled everybody’s brains with a mixture of questions designed to provoke thought and not just to test common knowledge!
A huge heartfelt congratulations to team Desperados for winning… Lydia & family made a night of it, had food, enjoyed the quiz and walked off with the first prize!
Don’t forget to join in the brain teasing fun again next month! (As the Pontardawe Inn is said to be the home of live music here in Ponty we are looking forward to the next quiz which is rumored to have a music section next time!)
The Gwach Working with Groundworks and local Walking groups
Groundwork
(Groundwork Mission Statement: Producing professional, high quality landscape solutions using innovative design and best practise)
are looking to create some improvements to the area’s leading into communities within the valley and are considering some ideas for the area surrounding the Gwach, the grass verge, cycle path etc. They have spoken to us at the Gwach and are now busy contacting various walking and cycling groups with a view to getting a local perspective on the best way to brighten up the area
We will keep you informed of any progress
First ‘Open Mic’ night

Ian Squared
About four acts turned up for the open mic tonight at the Gwachel, a mix of traditidional, original and classic songs were enjoyed by a full house.
More of the same next week and every week at the Gwachel!
New Owners at the Gwachel!
The Pontardawe Inn which is fondly known by locals as Y Gwachel is now under new ownership, Jason, Dave and Steve have taken over the pub which is well known for its musical herritage.
From now on it will also be known for its food! Dave, the chef, whom trained locally at the Pen Yr Allt in Alltwen has left the Plough at Rhosmaen to join the venture.
The pub was closed for a couple of days whilst a team of locals helped to clean and give the pub a well deserved coat of fresh paint!
See the sample menu for an idea of what to expect when eating at the Gwachel.
